General Questions
What are the requirements for admissions ?
Admission requirements vary based on the level of the course or programme. Specialized programmes will have additional requirements.
Does ACC offer payment plans?
Yes. Persons who would like to pay for their programme or course fees in installments are required to meet with the Finance Department to determine and set up the payment plan.
Are the courses and programmes offered by ACC accredited?
The majority of the short courses and programmes offered by ACC are accredited. Some of the accrediting bodies are Pearson BTEC, American Hotel and Lodging Education Institute, Barbados Community College, University of the West Indies, Chartered Management Institute, University of the West Indies, American Hotel & Lodging Education Institute, The University of the Virgin Island and Caribbean Tourism Learning System.
Does ACC offer distance learning?
At this time, ACC does not offer distance learning, but preparations are being made to begin doing so.
What are the advantages of going to a community college?
One of the biggest advantages of going to community college is the cost. Community college is more affordable than most four-year institutions. Many community colleges are two-year institutions where you can earn an associate degree to prepare you for a career or for matriculation into universities.
If I have to withdraw from classes, can I get a refund on the fees that I paid?
Refund of fees depends largely on various factors, including medical. Discretions will be used based on the circumstances. Registration fees however are non-refundable.
Will my transcripts continue to be transmitted to other colleges and universities if my goal is to transfer?
Yes, there should be no disruption to transcript requests or deliveries during this health crisis. Colleges are ensuring that they have staff, either working on campus or from their homes, that will continue to provide essential services. There may be slight delays during the first several weeks of transitioning to work off-site, but transcripts will continue to be sent upon request.
