Welcome to Hospitality! It is a unique and multi-disciplinary industry which offers over 200 jobs worldwide from entry to management levels giving you the opportunity to select a job you truly love making it the most dynamic industry in the world. The majority of the labour force in the private sector is employed in this exciting field. The industry seeks to attract the brightest, hardworking and energetic people. ‘Tourism is Key,’ not just to fuelling the island’s economy, but it impacts on all aspects of our lives. It is a business for people who love interacting with other people. We have to ensure that we give each and every guest a “WOW” experience. When guests visit our island, we have to keep them coming back time and time again by making sure Anguilla is the premiere destination in the Caribbean renowned for its service excellence. The Hospitality Division of the ACC is committed to providing the latest innovations in training and education in the area of Hospitality so that our students are well poised to guarantee the sustainability of the industry in Anguilla. Training is key to differentiating Anguilla from other destinations that offer the same physical attributes. The faculty of the Hospitality Division is dedicated to engaging students in meaningful learning experiences that will raise the levels of professionalism “to meet international standards and global competitiveness” by creating a reality based learning environment. In 2016, we will be introducing the Caribbean Tourism Learning System (CTLS) Associate Degree curriculum in Hospitality Studies and Food and Beverage. In the near future we will also be offering courses is oenology (the science and study of all aspects of wine and winemaking except viticulture) and mixology. Remember, there is no limit to where your talents and ambitions can take you in the vibrant and exhilarating hospitality industry.

The Associate Degrees in Hospitality Studies and Food and Beverage Management were developed through the collaboration of the Caribbean Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) and the Caribbean Tourism Learning System (CTLS). The objective of the programme is to “address the growing need for a common, competency-based curriculum and provide the employers with potential employees who possess a sound theoretical and practical base.”
The goal of the CTHRC is to “develop and promote a systematic and coordinated approach to human resources planning, research, education and training in Caribbean tourism to meet the demands of a globally competitive tourism environment.”
The CTLS “aims to raise the level of professionalism of tourism workers to meet international standards and global competitiveness.” Some of the key elements are:
- Unified core curriculum for different levels of certification at the tertiary level of education
- Public awareness and career awareness at the secondary school level
- Student and employee mobility throughout the region
- Self-regulatory quality assurance systems for public and private sector tourism education and training service providers
- Programme articulation to facilitate transfer of credits between institutions
